What Makes Blackhat Different
A Quick and Dirty Features Listing.
Blackhat is an attempt to create a solid, well-rounded GNU/Linux distro
from scratch. Along the way, a few goals were set in place for the final
product, including:
- GRsecurity-enabled Linux kernel 2.6.20.7
- PAX and Stack-Smashing Protection (SSP)
- Complete loop-AES filesystem encryption
- Slackware-like package management via Pkg
- other things i can't remember right now. :-)
Obviously, Blackhat is a long way off from the mainstream linux distros
in terms of sheer amount of software and manpower, but it still works
to provide a basic, end-to-end GNU/Linux solution. The core software
provided on a Blackhat system is as follows:
- Linux 2.6.20.7 w/ GRsecurity
- Glibc 2.5 w/ blowfish crypt()
- GCC 4.1.2 (C,C++,ObjC,Java,Fortran)
- Binutils 2.17
